I met Marlene once, at my initial appointment and physical exam. She was thorough during that visit, but after my testing was completed, I never spoke directly with her again. Every result, treatment recommendation, medication question, referral issue, or concern went through another staff member. I would constantly hear, “I’ll ask Marlene and get back to you,” and getting an answer could take several days to a week, if I received one at all. For example, I was told Marlene recommended iron infusions. I declined and wanted to discuss continuing oral iron instead. Again, everything had to be relayed back and forth through someone else. The same happened with questions about medications, expensive imaging, and referrals. What makes it even more frustrating is that the office encourages patients to use the patient portal for communication, but in my experience, messages there were often ignored or went unanswered. I also felt that infusion services were pushed very heavily. There were posters, pamphlets, and constant emphasis on infusions throughout the office, and I was sent home with more information about them. After my own experience, it left me with the impression that infusion services were a major focus of the practice, sometimes more than actually discussing my concerns and preferences. I don’t expect immediate access to a provider 24/7, but I do expect reasonable communication and follow-up from my primary care provider. I shouldn’t feel like I’m playing telephone every time I have a question about my own healthcare. That first appointment was also my last. Unfortunately, I left feeling like I had very little access to my actual provider and very little confidence that my concerns would be followed through on.

Yesterday was our first office visit, and we were pleasantly surprised. The administration team was welcoming, making us feel comfortable immediately. They listened as we explained our medical history thoroughly. The 'Picture of Health' meeting with the doctor was warm and friendly. She listened carefully, understood our complicated situation, didn't rush us, and made us feel at ease. She appeared well-educated and confident in managing our case. We would definitely recommend this office.
I usually met with the PA who I really enjoyed her interaction and experience after meeting the doctor. We spent a good 30 minutes reviewing all my past history on my app and found the final stretch needs to be increased in strength, training and muscle development leading down my last 10 pounds which will be difficult because I’ll be gaining muscle while I’m losing fat thank you.
