I generally see the PA or NP and they are caring, listen well and provide excellent care, my only complaint is that it is very difficult to get a referral for a specialist. I have lost appointments or not been able to make an appointment because the referrals are not kept up with well. I have to call multiple times and often have to make a trip to the office to get a referral sent or I have to hand carry it to the specialist office. This is very frustrating.
I have a series of medical issues that the head physician at this clinic worked on. The doctor questioned me on each issue. In the past, I have never had a physician go through my file and medications to address them. Some of the medications he took me off and explained why I no longer needed them. The doctor actually took the time with me and found out my issues. One by one he attacks each of them. The staff is very friendly. If you want a great doctor, go to Aguilera Family Healthcare because you will receive great service. I can tell you I feel so much better. Thank you!
Only selecting the star because otherwise I can’t post it. But this doctor’s office as of recent does not deserve any stars or new patients. I was a patient at this practice for over 10 years, but my experience over the last few months has been extremely disappointing and concerning. I experienced a nearly two-month delay in receiving a necessary prescription due to lack of follow-up on a prior authorization. I ultimately had to do the legwork myself to get the prescription approved and filled. When I expressed concern about how long this took, I was told that the office cannot keep track of all PA approvals, which was alarming given the importance of timely medication management. Rather than receiving any follow-up, apology, or reassurance regarding my care—despite having high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and anxiety—I later received notice that I was being terminated as a patient. Before I even received the termination letter, I was called and told not to come to my scheduled appointment. Throughout my time at this practice, I experienced consistently long wait times and frequent turnover, having gone through 4–5 different physicians and physician assistants. This lack of continuity, communication, and accountability ultimately made it impossible to feel safe or supported as a patient. Due to this experience, I would not recommend this practice. My husband and mother-in-law have also decided to seek care elsewhere.
Dr. Aguilar's front office does not know what they are doing or they are deliberately scamming their patients. I called to schedule an appointment for my husband and asked very specifically "are you in network", Not "do you accept", I understand the difference to these two questions. The person who I spoke to said yes, they are in Network. My husband was charged $164, I called to ask the front desk to ask why, turns out, they are out of network (surprise). When I told them I asked very specifically if they were in network, the lady was adamant that they do accept my insurance, she was tiptoeing around the question knowing good and well that they lied to me.
Dr Aguilar is attentive, and kind. He listens to my concerns. If my appointment is a late, he still gives me the time that I need for my appointment. I never feel rushed. The office staff is very professional.
