I am leaving this review more than two years later because I still think about this experience regularly. When I think about what is wrong with American medicine, this visit is one of the first things that comes to mind. Before my son was born, I decided to establish care with a primary care doctor. ARC is so common in Austin that I scheduled with the only doctor available at the time, Dr. Champ, even though the appointment was about two months out. I went in as a mostly healthy adult who simply wanted to do what I thought responsible adults are supposed to do: establish care, ask a few questions, and get some basic labs done. Dr. Champ acted like this was somehow bizarre. He seemed genuinely confused that I would come to a doctor without being actively sick. He brushed off my questions as if they were stupid and at one point literally rolled his eyes. The whole visit felt cold, dismissive, and strangely hostile. Instead of helping, he made me feel like I was wasting his time for wanting basic preventive care. Eventually I asked if we could at least check my cholesterol, testosterone, and one other item. He said he would put in the order. I came back the next day for labs, got the results in the app about a week later, and all three came back irregular. The app indicated a doctor would follow up. I also noticed it said Dr. Champ had not viewed the results yet. Then nothing happened. Months went by with no outreach at all. I checked the app from time to time and it continued to show that the results had not even been viewed. Eventually I called and spoke with a manager. I explained my concern and she sounded mildly concerned, but nothing meaningful came of it. Later I checked the app again and saw that Dr. Champ had finally viewed the results, but he still never contacted me. Not once. That was the last communication I ever had with anyone at ARC. Needless to say, no one in my family will ever go back to ARC. My experience was that this was careless, impersonal, assembly-line medicine at its worst. If you want a doctor who listens, takes preventive care seriously, and follows up on abnormal lab results, this was absolutely not it.

This was my first visit at this clinic and with Dr. Champ and I was happy with how things went. He was attentive, asked questions and listened. Front staff was just okay but his assistant, Amy, was awesome.
My ARC - Dr Champ was great, he answered all my questions, we also reviewed past preventative test and scheduled one that I needed. I believe in being proactive and changing a few things with my lifestyle for better health and overall well-being. He was very easy to communicate with, which I really appreciate.
Professional, caring, respectful, and polite. Dr. Champ was very helpful with his bedside manner and was knowledgeable about everything I asked about. He asked questions and was attentive. His assistant, Amy, is amazing too!
I met with Dr. Jeffrey Champ. He was very dismissive and seemed annoyed during my video call visit. He kept mentioned I have HIV, which I do not and have never been exposed to. He brought that up based off of my FLS. He made that suggestion several times. Which made me very uncomfortable. I’m fairly confident based off of his demeanor and his persistence that I have HIV that this might be racially motivated. He was very insensitive to my situation of being sick. Being a firefighter I take pride in my health and my treatment to others. I wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy.
